Tourist arrival in Nepal increased by 2.3%

Arrival of Tourists in Nepal has been increased by 2.3% to 38,694 in the month of April by air as compared to the same month last year.
According to Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Tourists arriving from South Asian Region has increased by 4.9% whereas Tourists arriving from India has declined by 2.6% and Srilanka by 21.5% which has gone down.
Tourists arriving from Bangladesh and Pakistan registered a positive growth of 71.2% and 35.1% respectively.
In a statement of Nepal Tourism Board, a robust growth of 15.9% has been recorded in the arrival from the South Asia region in the first four months of 2010 in comparison to the same period last year.
China recorded an encouraging growth of 45.3% in April. Malaysia and South Korea registered a positive growth of 14.2% and 20.3% respectively.
Tourist’s arrivals from US and Canada grew by 3% and 8.3% respectively.
However, European markets registered a negative growth of 5.5 percent with major destination showing mixed reaction in terms of visitor arrivals. Arrivals from Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland and Russia are up by 5.7%, 61.4%, 4%, 15.5%, 67.2% and 11.6% respectively.
