Government with the aim to support the promotion of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, had taken various initiatives. The cabinet on May 7, 2010 waived the royalty and free visa. It had also waived royalty for some of the mountain peaks. The government waived 50 per cent royalty for Dhaulagiri from May 7, 2010 to December, 31, 2011 apart from free visa for the summiteers of Mt Everest and Mt Dhaulagiri.
Similar Ministry of Information and Communication informed that they would issue postal stamp and the central Bank would issue coins for supporting the cause. Likewise Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has given high priority to improve the infrastructure of the Tribhuwan International Airport. The operation of new sterilized zone having the capacity to accommodate more than 350 passengers is the example of its commitment to facilitate tourists.
NTY 2011 the board and CAAN jointly have carried out many promotional programmes and development activities since the announcement of Nepal tourism year 2011.
