Nepalese woman aiming to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents

Sambahamphe Junit, a Nepalese girl in her twenties, has targeted to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents, following the trail of a South Korean female climber who had accomplished the feat at the end of last month.

Sambahamphe, who made it to the top of the world’s highest peak 8848 meters high, Mount Everest last year, will leave for Moscow to start her adventure odyssey to try to climb the 5642 meters Mt Elbrus at the western Caucasus mountain range in Georgia in Europe.
She wants to replicate the feat of 44 year old South Korea climber Oh Eun-Sun which she has done the impossible by becoming the first woman to scale the 14 highest peaks in the world. The Korean climber had reached the feat of climbing 8091 meters high Mount Annapurna in western Nepal.

“After the ascent of Everest, I dreamed of climbing the highest mountains on seven continents,” she told a news conference on Friday.

She wants to become the first woman in Nepal to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents.
“I decided to climb the seven highest peaks for the people of Nepal and Nepal to be known world over. My effort will help promote mountain tourism in Nepal, Nepal Tourism Year 2011 aims to attract one million tourists,” she said.

She said that during her trip to the mountains, she will also spread the message of reducing carbon emissions in developed countries.

“I will ask the international community to reduce carbon emissions and save the Himalayas”, she says.
She faces a shortage of funds, but this has not deterred her from carrying out the adventure, and she say’s she is confident in achieving success.

She will also be climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa and De Nali of United States in her expedition; she is ambitious and expects to be concluded by 2013.
