Nepal welcomes Australian tourists
Nepali Ambassador to Australia Mr. Yogendra Dhakal, during the sales mission in Australia – reported the rejuvenated state of tourism in Nepal.
“The tourism business of Nepal and the Nepalese government are quite ecstatic about the campaign and NTY welcomes large numbers of tourists from Australia,” said the ambassador, the hope of cooperation and support of travel operator’s tour of Australia in its efforts to send more Australians to Nepal in 2010 and especially in NTY-2011.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) – in coordination with the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra, Australia and Nepal Consulate in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane held a Sales Mission in Australia on 18-21 May. Sales mission took place in Melbourne on May 18, Sydney on May 19 and May 21 in Brisbane, respectively. The main purpose of the sales mission was to promote Nepal in Australia and other added attractions, especially natural and cultural attractions and hiking adventure.
Sales mission also assessed the travel writers in Australia and contractors on the situation of Nepal and how the tourism industry in Nepal has been rejuvenated after the launch of Nepal Tourism Year 2011. The launch of Nepal Tourism Year with the slogan “‘Together for Tourism ” aims to double the number of tourist arrivals to Nepal into million. The total number of tourist arrivals from Australia by air in Nepal during January-April 2010 increased by 10 percent during the same period last year. Nepal team has also made presentations on NTY 2011 and held interaction with the Nepalese community.
