Nepal is preparing for the world’s highest marathon

On Monday, local media reported that preparations for Tenzing Hillary Everest(also know as Qoomolangma) Marathon 2010, the biggest marathon in the world is in full speed.

“Inspite of snowfall or any other bad weather condition, we’ll held the marathon on 29th May,” said Krishna Bahadur Basnet, coordinator for the marathon and also the coach of the National Sports Council.
“This event is a collaboration of technical, medical and local support.”

As part of their regular training, some participants ran downhill, barring the snowflakes and snow-covered tracks.

Phura Sonam Sherpa, the trekking team leader, said the weather problems in this type of marathon are imminent and the team is well prepared.
