Mt. Everest cleaned up

A group of 20 people have succeeded in cleaning the garbage left by previous climbers in Mt. Everest (Death Zone).
A video of all the garbage collection has been released by tourism officials of Nepal. The garbage has been deposited there for decades.
Mt. Everest could have been also known as world’s highest dump because more than 4,000 climbers have already climbed Everest and we can imagine how much of waste products could have been dumped there.
Due to lack of oxygen and exhaustion, before climbers descend, they leave behind their used gear and rubbish in the mountain.
Before also there had been many efforts to clean Mt. Everest but till now no group had ever dared to clean Everest and survive Death Zone conditions which are very extreme freezing temperatures and thin air.
Namgyal Sherpa was the leader of the project called “Extreme Everest Expedition 2010” and he took his team above 8,000 meter to collect empty oxygen bottles, gas canisters, torn tents, ropes and utensils.
Later Mr. Sherpa said, “Collecting the garbage is quite a risky and difficult task. So such tasks cannot be carried out by anybody.”
The project “Extreme Everest Expedition 2010” was a 40 day campaign and the waste products brought back to base camp were expected to weigh around 2,000kg.
The team of Mr. Namgyal Sherpa after the expedition was not only afraid of the effect of pollution caused by garbage in Mt. Everest but also worried about Global Warming and its effects.
Mr. Sherpa mentioned that before while climbing Everest, climbers used to climb over snow but these days’ climbers climb over rocks due to melting of snow.
He further added, “If it continues this way, future generations will only be able to read in books that there was once snow in the Himalayas”.
