Government of Nepal to regulate rules in Casinos

The Government of Nepal is planning to regulate some rules and regulations in Casinos to control possible malpractices in Casino business.
Mr. Laxman Bhattarai, spokesperson for Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation said that, “We have realized the need of close monitoring and this is why the ministry is planning to introduce a set of rules and regulations”.
He also said that, “The new procedures would set a number of standards, including maintaining international standard service quality”.
Altogether, there are 10 Casinos recently operating in Kathmandu and Pokhara with each casino paying 20 million Nepali rupees (some 270270 U.S. dollars) as royalty to the government.

Mr. Bhattarai does not accept in improving the law to allow Nepalese citizens to gamble in casinos. He mentions that, “Giving permission to Nepalese citizens to gamble in casinos is like inviting economic and social problem for them”.
