Ghode Jatra Ceremony Observed in Kathmandu

Ghode Jatra is also known as “Fair of Horses”. It is the festival of the triumph of good over evil and is celebrated to rejoice in the victory over a demon named Tundi.
The ceremony was observed by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice President Paramananda Jha, chairman of the Legislative Parliament Subash Chandra Nembang , Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma and the other high level officials at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Monday.
The festival is observed between mid March and early April with the advent of Chaiite Dashain.
The Nepali Army organizes horse races, parades, acrobatic performances and other activities to mark the festival at Tundikhel parade ground.
Kumari, the living Goddess also makes a rare public appearance to witness the Ghode Jatra on the auspicious day.
