Entrepreneurs of Travel and Tourism have indicated that there should be joint attempt to promote village tourism in Nepal as it has aimed one million tourists during Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY-2011).
They also guessed that the villagers should be given major preference as the possible destination for the tourists and promotion of NTY-2011, with specific concentration on culture, tradition, heritage, and lifestyles.
Mr. Yogendra Shakya, National Coordinator of NTY-2011, talking at a program to note Village Tourism Day (VTD) in the capital on Saturday said, “Village tourism could be important to contribute in the development of the tourism industry and help the national economy and NTY-2011 is programming to draw 40% tourists to villages in the near future, something that could be profitable for the people in the rural areas.”
He also urged all the private sectors and government to unite for the growth and development of village tourism.
Ang Tshering Sherpa, former president of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) said, “As villages of Nepal are wealthy in culture and tradition, and natural beauties, they could draw travelers and support to boost village tourism.”
On the same occasion, Village Tourism Promotion Forum-Nepal (VTPFN), also presented Tanahusur in Tanahu district as one of the tourist destination which could support in boosting village tourism.
