700,000 tourists in seven months

Within seven months 700,000 tourists visited Nepal, with this same pace, Nepal Tourism Year 2011 objective to bring 1 million tourists seems to be in sight. Moreover, different tourism programs were held in several other countries with support of Nepal’s diplomatic missions.

For the promotion of NTY 2011, Nepal took part in 25 international tourism fair,seven in Europe,two in America,six in India and 10 in Asia.

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) informed that around 700,000 tourists arrived in Nepal in the last seven-month period, a sign that Nepal is on track for the target of bringing one million tourists in 2011. NTB expressed hope that one million tourists will visit Nepal by this year-end.

It was informed that out of Rs 130 million announced in this year’s budget, Rs 30 million will be spent on promotional activities in China, Rs 60 million in India and the remaining Rs 40 million in other countries, including advertising in CNN and BBC.
